Decision Support Tools
Decision support tools are conceptual models, which have been developed to demonstrate processes in the ecosystem of the Darwin Harbour region.
These conceptual models incorporate our best current understanding of processes in aquatic ecosystem science. The models can be used to assess
different scenarios, for example modelling the growth of Darwin to double its current population. The decision support tool can then be used to
predict what the potential threats to Darwin Harbour will be from this scenario.
A water quality model for Darwin Harbour has been developed which can be used to predict the impact of nutrient and sediment inputs on the
Harbour’s water quality.
